The Coaching Ethos

I was born in 1976, I started my Fatherhood journey at 24 years old and I've been with my wife since I was 18 years old (the lucky lady!). I don't have a beard, I don't have a sleeve tattoo, I can't walk on my hands, deadlift three times my own bodyweight or complete an Ironman, I also don't know the best 'angles' for Instagram or wear short tank tops (although I've tried a couple of times!), BUT what I DO have is 30+ years of coaching experience with real people like you!!
I have the skillset to meet you where you're at and help you build a better relationship with health, fitness and wellness.

My journey with Ben McDonald began in 2013 when, at age 47, I embarked on a transformative path that led to losing 75 lbs in just one year. Ben’s approach wasn’t just about shedding weight; it was about understanding the importance of a preventative lifestyle that supports long-term health and well-being. Now, 11 years later, everything I learned from Ben remains an integral part of my life and lifestyle. His method taught me the value of maintaining overall wellness, which has profoundly impacted every aspect of my life.

I hit the “jackpot” with Ben. I couldn’t have asked for a more sincere and committed individual to see me through reaching my weight loss and improved physical fitness goals.

Ben's endless enthusiasm makes his sessions on the pads and body belt, fun, although they are grueling and exactly part of what you need to get you ready for a fight. No session was ever the same and no session was ever easy.

Ben's training sparked a greater interest in the strengthening and conditioning of athletes to an extent where i went on to complete a BSc in strength and conditioning and also an MSc in the same subject. I also went on to compete professionally in MMA. The more I learnt about these subjects, the more i realized Ben's take on them is right on the money. If you get the chance to work with Ben as an S and C coach or a boxing coach you should snatch it with both hands, he will get the best out of you!

I began training with Ben following a back injury. He provided me with a customized program that focused on rehabilitation and rebuilding my strength and mobility. His expertise in training and fascial stretch therapy allowed me to heal and regain my strength and confidence. 

Now that I'm recovered, I've continued to train with Ben and have seen tremendous gains in my strength and training capacity. Ben has increased my training load to meet my specific goals and has helped me hit some PBs that I'm really proud of! Ben is always  patient, encouraging and his positive energy and enthusiasm are infectious and super motivating!
